Subject: Collection for "Lisa McPherson Foundation" USA on September 17, 2000

Dear Reverend Hamann,

We appeal to you in connection with the above collection with a polite request for information about certain questions.

The background is as follows:

As you can perhaps remember, Mrs. Caberta from Hamburg helped Reverend Gandow from Berlin with a service in your church in September 2000. In closing this church service, a collection was held which Mrs. Caberta also said was for the so-called "victims aid" of a "Lisa McPherson Stiftung [Foundation] " (LMT) in the USA. This was later reported upon by the Dialog Zentrum Berlin.

What could still be of interest is that in summer 2000 US millionaire Minton afforded the said Mrs. Caberta - that would be a couple of months before her appearance in your church - an allegedly private loan in the amount of 75,000 dollars. The Hamburg state attorney's office issued a criminal order against the two plaintiffs in a subsequent criminal proceeding for corruption about the middle of this year. According to press reports these proceedings were brought before Hamburg city court and suspended with an injunction for a payment of 7,500 euro against both the accused.

Supposedly this collection was not transferred until 2001, not to the above-mentioned US trust, but to a bank account of Mr. Gandow's Dialog Zentrum Berlin. The latter now asserts that it never got forwarded to the said US trust. This also appears now to no longer be possible, since this trust has been dissolved by its former chairman of the board, the US millionaire Minton.

Concerning the said US trust for which this collection of fall 2000 was taken, at no time has it ever been a foundation in the sense of German law, rather a sort of trust whose benefactor was the already mentioned US millionaire Minton. That means the trust was not anything like a charitable foundation, as one perhaps could have assumed from the German rendition of its name. This can also be gathered from the corporate charter of the US trust.

According to testimony from Mr. Minton this year in a US court, he made agreements with a US attorney in the past according to which the trust would promote this attorney's indemnity procedure, but Minton was supposed to receive the profits anticipated from this procedure. After which the trust had always been intended for US millionaire Minton's personal gain.

In this regard we request answers to the following questions:

1. At whose initiative was the said collection taken?

2. Who made the suggestion to have the collection go to the US trust?

3. How did the misunderstanding that this involved a [charitable] foundation occur?

4. Is it true that this collection was forwarded to the Dialog Zentrum Berlin by your church in 2001?

5. If yes, when exactly did this transfer occur?

6. Why was the transfer of funds not made directly to the US trust?

7. How could the delay be explained from September 2000 to the alleged later transfer date of 2001?

8. Would Mr. Gandow or the Dialog Zentrum Berlin have personal judgment or rights in determining whether this collection could be forwarded, in view of the dissolution of the US trust, to another legal entity or natural person?

9. From what one hears the recipient of the collection will be a US citizen who fled to Canada after he was convicted in court of making statements regarded as a bomb threat and sentenced to 200 days incarceration. Is this true and does this process have your agreement and/or would you have agreed to this in advance?

10. If not, what conclusions would you make from these facts of the matter?

11. What do the internal policies of the Evang.-Lutheran State Church say about how and under what conditions collection money can be applied to private persons?

2. Could you make a statement as to the amount of the collection addressed here?

We ask your kind consideration in regard to these questions.
